What is reflexology?

The art of reflexology can be traced back to ancient China, India and Egypt. The treatment works on the feet to help heal the whole body not just the prevailing symptoms. The soles of the feet effectively represent a map of the body. Congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

How can reflexology help you?

Reflexology can bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. It is also used to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium. Many people complete a course of reflexology for a specific ailment but often continue with regular treatments as a way of maintaining health and well-being.

What can one of our reflexologists do for you?

You will be given a full consultation by the reflexologist in order to determine your present and past health and lifestyle. The reflexologist will then use their hands to apply pressure to the feet. The reflexologist will be able to detect changes in specific reflex points on the feet and by working on these points may affect the corresponding organ or system of the body. A session usually last for about an hour and a course of treatments may be beneficial.

What conditions may reflexology be used to treat?

Many people use reflexology as a method of relaxing the mind and body to counteract stress. However, many doctors and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy.

Reflexology can be used to treat numerous conditions including:

  • Migraine
  • Back pain
  • Sleep disorders
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Infertility
  • Arthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Digestive problems
  • Stress-related disorders
