The current association between golfers and Osteopaths is mainly due to injuries sustained by the golfer during the playing of golf. The role of the Osteopath is to treat and prevent further injuries.
There is however another area where Osteopathy can help golfers. Increasing the golfers’ performance via Osteopathic intervention can help increase driving distances.
The golf swing is such that it uses the rotation of the body, as a coiled spring, to generate the energy to hit the golf ball. Muscles in the body co-ordinate with each other by either contracting or relaxing to achieve the desired body movement i.e. in this case, rotation.
One of our Osteopaths, Pratik Visaria, researched into this area and now uses a unique program to enhance golf performance. He has been working with several club professionals who have benefited from embarking on this program.
The program lasts for approximately 8 weeks.
