AposHealth® at Woodside Clinic

During your initial consultation at Woodside Clinic, an AposHealth® certified therapist, will conduct an in-depth clinical evaluation of your condition and assess your suitability for AposHealth®. This consultation will include specialised assessment of pain, function and quality of life questionnaires and using state-of-the-art computerised equipment, your walking will be analysed. This gives our AposHealth® certified therapist a clearer picture of what may be causing you pain, and how AposHealth® can provide a long-term solution to treat it. Based on this evaluation you’ll receive your personally-calibrated foot-worn biomechanical device to help relieve pressure and re-train the muscular system around the joint.

The AposHealth® certified therapist will develop a personalised programme to suit your specific clinical needs. The AposHealth® device is worn for a short period of time during the day whilst you carry out your normal daily routine. You decide the time and place, fitting therapy in with your lifestyle, as opposed to having to fit your life around therapy. As you continue with your everyday routine activities such as walking from room to room and getting up from a chair, while wearing your biomechanical device, your body is learning, without you even noticing it, re-educating correct movement patterns as the joints perform hundreds of repetitions.

AposHealth® is a dynamic treatment, constantly monitored and adjusted to ensure optimal success throughout your care at Woodside Clinic. During follow-up consultations at Woodside Clinic your programme is reassessed. Your AposHealth® certified therapist will conduct several examinations including the computerised gait analysis test, as well as pain, function and quality of life assessments to provide an objective and subjective reflection of your progress. Throughout the process, wherever necessary your device is adjusted as needed and your personalised programme updated to ensure treatment outcomes and your goals are met.

With AposHealth®, every step you take with the device relieves the stress and pain on your painful joints. In parallel, your muscles are trained to become more synchronised so that they correctly control your movements, even when you are not using the device. Treatment has minimal interruption to daily life and maximum rehabilitation. In fact, you won’t feel like you’re working your muscles at all. You’ll just stop noticing the pain, so you can move with confidence and be yourself again. In fact in some cases patients tell us their pain relief is immediate during their very first consultation.

The initial consultation lasts between 1.5 – 2 hours and follow-up sessions last about 30 – 45 minutes

No, you should not find AposHealth® painful.

Some patients feel a decrease in pain and an improvement in walking immediately whilst wearing the devices, others take a little longer. By following your personalised programme, the changes should bring improvement whilst walking with your normal footwear or even barefoot over time.

As the AposHealth® certified physiotherapist needs to assess your walking style and see your knees, please wear shorts or loose comfortable clothing which can be pulled above the knees.

As there are many forms and surveys to be filled in, please bring in reading glasses if you need them.
